Final Year Project - FALL IN @ MOBERLY

In the 1960s, Princess Mary Barrack was Home to British & Malayan soldiers. Singapore Polytechnic began to occupy the 33ha Princess Mary Barrack in 1971, most colonial buildings were demolished except for Moberly which houses Academic departments then. In the late 1990s, Moberly was revamped into students' hub where co-curricular activities and student camps were held until to this day, where Moberly has became now defunct and currently no CCA activities or events have been held at the building site. This Atelier will explore to reimagine and reinvent Moberly as an endearing, inclusive & collaborative student depot.

Therefore, to revitalize the space and bring back to its formal glory, my design for Moberly is to create a space that will revitalize Moberly as an educational and entertaining social hub for people of all ages. By demarcating spaces with clean lines, colours and a mixture of textures and materials, the design of the space will provide opportunities for people to interact and come together in
harmony.

How I have chosen to segregate and allocate the different spaces within the 3 levels of Moberly is by separating them based on the levels of privacy and its main functions. In addition, spaces based on how flexible or fixed they are, were also being strategically placed within the three levels of Moberly. On the first floor plan, spaces that have been created are the Cafe, the Multipurpose podia area, the Band and Dance Studio, the Recreational Space and lastly the Washroom Area.
